15-30- Departure Alan-Kala Fortress
The ancient Massaget tribes who owned Ustyurt were looking for a place here where a source of water could be located. Soon, the Alan-Kala fortress was erected, the walls of which reached 4 m in height and 2 m in width. The Ustyurt plateau was originally the bottom of a large sea that disappeared millions of years ago. Therefore, the stones from which the ancients built the Alan fortress are covered with myriads of interspersed shells from the bottom of the prehistoric sea. And although the walls of the ancient structure are abundantly covered with the sand of history, the remains of the Alan fortress to this day stand alone in the middle of the stone desert as an eternal monument to the power of the former people, the walls of which reached 4 m in height and 2 m in width.
